  • Verified against your State Bar record

The Case for Claiming

Where the work actually comes from

Eight channels the registry operates. None is a promise of volume — they are the routes by which an attorney becomes findable and reachable, and every one of them requires a claimed, verified profile to work.

  1. Receive referrals from other attorneys

California attorneys refer matters outside their specialty or region constantly. The Referral Exchange routes those matters to verified attorneys and automates the CRPC 1.5.1 paperwork — the written fee-division agreement and the client's written consent. Fees divide 100% between the two attorneys; the registry never takes a share. Free at every membership level, including Free.

    How the exchange works
  2. Be findable in the language your clients speak

About 44% of Californians speak a language other than English at home, and roughly 6.4 million have limited English proficiency — yet no public directory lets them search attorneys by the language an office serves. This one does. Confirm the languages your office works in and your record appears in those searches, statewide and by county. If office staff rather than you assist in a language, the registry publishes their job title in that language, exactly as State Bar advertising rules require — so the listing is compliant as well as findable.

  3. Be quotable when someone asks an AI

In 2026, 41.9% of consumers say they would use ChatGPT to research which lawyer to hire — up from 9% in 2023 — and AI answers now appear on roughly 78% of legal queries. Every profile here is published as structured, source-attributed data with a visible verification date, which is what answer engines cite. A claimed profile carries your own headline, practice areas and credentials into that answer instead of a bare license record.

  4. Be reachable — without a paywall

The public contact information on your official record is shown free on your profile, and it always will be. Clients can call it directly, or send a message the registry relays to the address on your record. The registry's own line is answered around the clock by an AI reception that identifies itself as an assistant and files a transcript.

  5. Show a face, a firm, and a body of work

Unclaimed, your page is a license record. Claimed, it carries a headshot, your firm's logo, and office or gallery photographs, alongside the professional headline, biography, practice areas, consultation and fee arrangements, office addresses, and credentials — education, admissions, certifications, awards, publications and speaking. Uploads are virus-scanned and reviewed before they publish.

  6. Connect your website, video and profiles

Add your firm website, booking link, YouTube channel, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and Bluesky. These publish into your profile's schema.org sameAs graph — the machine-readable statement that all of these accounts belong to the same professional, which is how search and answer engines consolidate a person rather than scattering them across half-matching records.

  7. Link to your website and socials

Gold / Platinum / Diamond Members

On a paid membership, the links from your registry profile to your own website and your firm's site are followed links — the registry does not mark them sponsored, as it does for free profiles and for third-party listings. Your profile sits on a California-only domain built entirely from official State Bar records, so the page pointing at your site is a substantive record about you rather than a thin listing. Links to social accounts, press and other directories stay marked sponsored at every level.

  8. Carry the blue verification marker

Identity verification confirms you control contact information already on your official State Bar record. It is not a rating, an endorsement, or a claim about ability — it is the marker that separates a claimed record from an indexed one, and it is what the Referral Exchange requires before you can send or accept a matter.

    What each marker means

Plainly

What it costs and what it changes

Cost to claim
Free — and free to keep.
Time to verify
A few minutes. A code goes to an email or phone already on your State Bar record.
Per-lead fees
None. There are none to introduce later either — registry fees are flat by policy, never per case or a percentage.
Share of your fees
Zero. The registry is not a law firm and takes no portion of any legal fee.
Your official facts
Name, bar number, status, admission date and certified specialties stay source-controlled from the State Bar. Claiming cannot alter them.
If you change your mind
Your official record is public data and remains indexed, but the profile content you add is yours to edit or withdraw at any time.

Claim the record that is already about you.

Verification indicates identity or source confirmation; it is not a rating, an endorsement, or a prediction of results. Membership is optional presentation and labeled placement — it never changes neutral organic directory order. Legal information, not legal advice.
