How are search results ordered — can attorneys pay for a higher position?
No. The directory order is neutral and nobody can pay to move within it. Paid placement appears only in a band that is clearly labelled as sponsored, above and separate from the neutral list. Markers on a record describe identity and membership, never quality.
California Attorney Registry does not score, grade, or endorse anyone, and it never selects an attorney for you. It shows the record and you decide.
A verification marker means the record was checked against the official roll. A membership marker means the attorney pays a flat published fee for profile features and labelled placement. Neither is a judgement about their work.
