Emails and textsFor attorneys
How do I reply to a message a client sent through my profile?
Either way works. The email you received has the client's own address as its reply address, so a plain reply goes straight to them. It also carries one link, reply through the registry, which opens the message on a page with a reply box: the registry sends your answer to the client and keeps a record that you replied. The client's next reply then comes directly to your own email, not to the registry.
The registry sends the client's message to the address you chose on your profile, or to the contact on your State Bar record if you have not claimed it. Your email address is not shown to the client in either case; replying to them is your choice, and the registry takes no part in the engagement.
The reply link lives for ninety days and opens one message only. If it says it is not valid, reply to the email directly: that path always works.
