Why can't I use this — it says it needs a membership?
That feature is part of a paid membership and the account is on the free tier, or a membership that included it has ended. Everything you had stays in place; the feature is dormant rather than removed, and resuming a membership restores it.
Team access is the case people meet most often: staff grants operate while a paid membership is held, go dormant if it lapses, and reactivate on resuming — the grants themselves are never deleted.
Nothing about the neutral directory order is affected by a membership, in either direction. A lapse changes what your dashboard offers you, never where your record appears.
