How do I remove my profile from the registry?
Claim your profile, then in your dashboard open Profile settings and, under Public visibility, choose Remove my listing from public view. Your profile page comes down immediately and nothing is deleted: your claim, what you have added and your membership are kept, and the same place brings the listing back with one click. If you would rather not claim it, email info@californiaattorneyregistry.com from the address the State Bar has on record for you and ask for your profile to be removed.
- Sign in. If you have not claimed your profile yet, claim it first; that is how the registry knows the request is yours.
- Open Profile settings, under Account in your dashboard.
- Under Public visibility, choose Remove my listing from public view.
- Read what it does, then choose Yes: hide my listing.
Once removed, your profile page is no longer served to visitors, and your name comes off the registry's search and directory pages, including your firm's page, at the same time. You also stop receiving referrals from other attorneys through the registry and stop seeing case review. Search engines that cached your page drop it the next time they crawl it, which usually takes a few days.
A membership is separate: removing your listing does not cancel it, and cancelling does not remove you. To come back, choose Make my listing public again in the same place.
You do not have to claim your profile to remove it. Write to info@californiaattorneyregistry.com from the email address the State Bar has on record for you and say you want your profile removed; see the article on removing a profile you never claimed. Removing a listing does not remove the underlying State Bar record from the world; that is a public record wherever it is published.
